CDM Sports Day 2025: A Celebration of Unity Through Play

Montfort Boys Town was buzzing with excitement on 5 Sept 2025 as the Church of the Divine Mercy (CDM) hosted its parish-wide Sports Day. It was a lively half-day celebration that brought together families, ministries, and parishioners from every age group and zone to enjoy a day of camaraderie, fun, and healthy competition.

Participants jumped into a variety of activities including futsal, netball, badminton, tug of war, Zumba, and tele-matches specially arranged for the little ones. More than just sports, the day was about fostering friendships, strengthening community bonds, and celebrating the spirit of togetherness that defines CDM.

To capture these special moments, here are some Testimonies from the Zones ā¬‡ļø

Testimonies from the Zones

Zone 7: United in Joy and Spirit

Zone 7 brought an inspiring sense of community and commitment from a team comprising of mainly altar boys who used to serve together. One participant shared with joy:

“Very, very happy and excited! we like coming together as one, being as a family together. Just being able to come here on time and be present is also very good on its own.”

This joyful sentiment reflects the heart of the event, being present with one another and nurturing unity with happy moments of camaraderie through sports.

Representing Zone 5 in the futsal match, Mariana offered a special perspective:

“Saya mewakili zon 5 dalam permainan perlawanan futsal. Saya rasa teruja dapat mewakili gereja untuk bermain hari ini dan memandangkan ini adalah pertama kali saya bermain di Semenanjung dan saya sangat excited.”

The day was more than just a game, it was a new adventure:

“The highlight? We learnt how to use the MRT! In Sarawak, we don’t have MRT, so we got lost at the station, but in the end, we arrived safely. It was exciting and memorable!”

Her experience highlighted the joy of new beginnings, adaptability, and the pride in representing the CDM community.

Zone 4 radiated youthful energy, with 15-year-olds Chloe and Jayden taking part in badminton.

Chloe shared:

“I feel happy and very excited. There are new people here, and I can make new friends. I joined Sports Day to support my team. The most memorable part was the Zumba during the opening!”

Jayden echoed the excitement:

“I love playing badminton and I feel very excited because it’s my first time being here. The most memorable thing for me is the view at Montfort, it’s very nice and quiet.”

Both expressed the fun of the day:

“I’m just playing for fun,” said Jayden. “It’s a friendly competition, but I would win for my team!”

Family Reflections: A Parent’s Perspective

Grace, a parent of Olivia and Oliver, offered her heartfelt perspective:

“We’re happy to have this event. It’s a family activity and it’s good fun for the kids and us parents. Normally on a weekday, we all go our separate ways, but this kind of event brings us together. It means a lot.”

She added:

“I think we should do more events like this. It’s nice to bring everyone together, as a family, as friends, and as a community.”
