“Synodality Is Active And Alive!” Varsity Students Gather for Weekday CVS Mass

On Wednesday, June 17, 2026, the Peace Hall of Wesley Methodist School, Bandar Seri Coalfields, became a hub of spiritual rejuvenation and community building as it was venue for the Catholic Varsity Students (CVS) Mass and fellowship.

The event successfully drew 80 students from various local tertiary institutions, UiTM Shah Alam, UiTM Puncak Alam, UiTM Puncak Perdana, Centexs and MSU

The meaningful program was organized by the Parish BECAT (BEC Animating Team), with support from BECCOT (BEC Coordinating Team) and the local BEC, St. Philip Minh.

The primary objective of the gathering was twofold: to allow Parish Priest Rev. Fr. George Harrison to get to know the varsity students on a personal level, and to bridge the gap between the students and the parish community through the network of BECs.

The evening commenced with a devotion to the Blessed Virgin Mary, as the students themselves led the recitation of the Rosary in Bahasa Malaysia.

Following the prayer, the students broke out into smaller circles for an intimate group sharing session. Facilitated by BECAT Coordinator, Charles Mervyn, alongside members of BECAT and BECCOT, the discussions centred around the month’s BEC Reflection theme: ā€œChurch: Living Synodality,ā€ explored in the context of youths studying away from their families.

The reflection was tailored specifically to the realities of youth and varsity students who are navigating life and faith while studying away from home. Through the ā€œConversation in the Spiritā€, the session became deeply moving, as many students were visibly touched by the honest and heartfelt stories shared by their peers.

After the group discussions, student representatives reflected on living synodality by sharing how each person’s gifts and talents can serve the community.

The spiritual pinnacle of the program was the Holy Mass celebrated by Rev. Fr. George in Bahasa Malaysia. In his homily, Fr. George expressed his deep joy and admiration for the youths, noting that he personally witnessed “synodality very much alive” during their energetic and heartfelt group discussions.

The evening concluded on a high note with a warm fellowship session, allowing the students to bond over refreshments before returning to their respective campuses with renewed spirits and a stronger sense of belonging.
