Grandparents & Elders Day 2026

Written by Golden Elders Ministry (GEM) – Church of the Divine Mercy

On 26 August 2026, the Golden Elders Ministry (GEM) celebrated Grandparents and Elders Day in conjunction with the 6th World Day for Grandparents and the Elderly, proclaimed by Pope Leo.

The celebration began with Holy Hour, followed by the Anointing of the Sick by Father George Harrison and Holy Mass. The theme is “I will never forget you” Isaiah 49:15. This was followed by a fellowship lunch, music and joyful moments shared among approximately 155 elders and grandparents from CDM.

It was a beautiful and meaningful celebration filled with faith, love, fellowship and joy. The heartfelt testimonials from our elders further affirmed how much they appreciated this special occasion and the effort put in by GEM team in making them feel valued and remembered.

GEM extends its heartfelt gratitude to Father George Harrison and the entire GEM team, Liturgy, Media, Music and Hospitality Ministries for their generous support, dedication and service in making this celebration a truly beautiful and successful one.

May we continue to cherish and honour our elders, reminding them that they are never forgotten and always treasured in our Church family.

Hi Raymond

It was good meeting you earlier.  And thanks so much for always checking up on me and my mother in law.

Thanks to you and the rest of the GEM team for organising this event. Do let me know whenever GEM have other gathering. I will definitely bring my mother in law.

It helps so much for my mother in law. I think the annointing of the sick really helped her. She looks so much better, and less stressed with me…. hahaha, even happily told me in the car while looking at the divine mercy poster – she said: “Jesus is so cute and looks so young 😆”

After mass she decided to sit down at the canteen and eat lunch. Didn’t really speak to anyone but she felt like she’s at peace.

So, thank you so much! Please convey my thanks to Linda too 😊

Thank you Raymond and the entire GEM team for a beautiful and meaningful celebration yesterday. 🙏

The Mass was very prayerful and spiritually uplifting, and the whole event was very well coordinated and organised. It was wonderful to see such a good turnout and fellowship among everyone.

The food was fantastic, the entertainment was enjoyable, and most importantly, there was a genuine sense of joy, faith, friendship and community throughout the celebration.

Congratulations to the entire GEM organising team for a wonderful beginning. May God continue to bless GEM – Golden Elders Ministry and guide this ministry to touch many more lives. 🙏❤️

God Bless Everyone!

Hi Raymond,

Praise God for the success of GEM  yesterday.  We had the Spirit – filled Mass with anointing of the Sick by Fr George. Lunch buffet spread is plentiful and excess. GREAT support from other Ministries too. Kudos to  you, Linda & team🙏❤️🥰
