MESSAGE FROM PARISH PRIEST

Dear Parishioners,

RESUMPTION OF PUBLIC MASSES

It is with great joy that I announce the resumption of public masses in CDM beginning Sunday, 28.06.2020. Due to restrictions imposed on us by the government, we are only permitted to have one public mass per week to start with. Mass attendance is restricted to 200 persons for the first mass as we need to test out our preparedness for the ‘new normal’.

During this phase, children below 12 years old and senior citizens aged 70 and above will not be able to participate. Those who are ill are also advised not to attend. This may be disappointing to you but we are concerned with your own safety and wellbeing. We have also set up a CDM Pandemic Response Team, and are presently putting together a comprehensive Standard Operating Procedure (SOP) which will introduce several “new normals” to be observed when attending Mass. Expect to see some videos and more information this week. After consulting with the PPC, I have decided that attendance at the first public mass will be by invitation only to leaders of the various ministries and BECs within CDM. This is to enable them to test and experience these new processes so that they will be able to disseminate the correct information to all our parishioners.

Due to this, please do not attempt to come for our first mass next Sunday unless you have received a personal invitation. Only people whose names are listed will be allowed in.

Please be reminded that the Archbishop’s dispensation from attendance at Sunday Mass continues to be in force. Masses will continue to be livestreamed to allow you to participate from the home. We will gradually add numbers as we go along. Confessions will not be available before the mass but can be arranged in the mornings by prior appointment with the office – likewise, do call if you are seriously ill and need to be anointed. Funerals in church are not yet allowed in this phase.

LIFT

We are happy to announce that our application to the Archdiocese to install a lift in our building has been approved. The lift cost is RM150k but additional works to modify the existing lift shaft and other anxilliary works will bring up the price to at least RM200k. The cost of the lift has been budgeted already from existing funds but donations towards it are welcome. The project will take 28 weeks to complete.
