CDM’s Rosary Relay 2.0 coincided with the Feast of Our Lady of the Rosary. Held on Oct 7, it saw rosary recitation and a candlelight public procession around the church after the sunset mass.
The event was themed “Mary, Queen of the Most Holy Rosary”. Last year, a similar event was carried out in the month of May. May and October are special months dedicated to the veneration of the Blessed Virgin Mary.
Organised by CDM’s Marian Apostolate and jointly supported by various other ministries, the event started with an opening prayer led by parish priest Rev Fr Alan Pereira at the entrance of the church.
The procession made five stops where a decade of the rosary from the Glorious Mysteries was recited at each stop. Flower girls strewed colourful petals of flowers at each station and hymns that were specially selected were sung by the choir made up of members from CDM’s several choir groups.
The final stop was at the foot of the sanctuary where the float rested close to the tabernacle, bringing everyone’s focus on Mary’s mission of bringing souls to her Son.
The organising team is grateful for good weather, the coming together of various ministries in the church and the active participation of parishioners and friends of CDM. Despite the hot and humid evening, the event saw some 1000 people, clearly a testament to their deep love and devotion to our Blessed Mother.
